Corso d'Italia 29 · Fifth Floor · Rome

Monuments at dawn. Lights at dusk.

Six rooms on the fifth floor of Corso d'Italia, between the gardens of Villa Borghese and a walk to monuments some two thousand years old. Fountains and ruins by day; the same lit streets Rome has always kept awake, by night.

The Position

Three different Romes, one address.

No other neighbourhood in Rome keeps three such different faces so close together: monuments some two thousand years old, a walk away in every direction; parks and fountains that start at the end of the block; and the nightlife that once taught the world to stay out after dark, one street away on Via Veneto. Corso d'Italia sits exactly where the three overlap — close enough to reach each on foot, quiet enough to come home to.

The Evening

Via Veneto taught Rome how to stay out late.

For the better part of the twentieth century, the café tables along Via Veneto were where Rome's evenings happened — actors, writers, and the cameras that followed them, all within sight of this address. The crowds have moved on since, but the habit hasn't: it's still a walk lined with restaurant terraces, late-opening bars and the kind of quiet that only comes after a long dinner. Corso d'Italia sits right where the evening starts.
